Hey, check out this software that I just found!!! I’ve been trying to build/find a good searchable database for about a year. I just came across this beautiful piece of FREEware.

At Office Depot yesterday I was buying some organizational stuff for the office. While trying out different portable hanging file folder thingies, I broke one. All I did was try to close the top and snap the latch shut. Apparently, the top didn’t fit exactly on top of the box, so when I tried to close the latch, the hinges broke.
The store people didn’t make me buy the thing, so I was pretty happy (actually, I don’t think they can legally require you to buy something you break).
I decided to choose a different design. My family always says, “You get what you pay for.” Taking their advice, I bought the slightly more expensive design.
I didn’t have time yesterday to get my files organized, so I put everything in the corner intending to get to it in the morning.
As soon as I got in and looked over my day’s schedule, I started to work on my filing project. I gathered all my supplies and opened the top of my fancy new portable file carrier. I open the lid all the way and was going to let it sit opened while I worked . . . a reasonable plan. The second I let go of the lid it flopped back and snapped the plastic hinges!
So no more filing supplies from Office Depot.
Hmm . . . some trouble posting stuff . . .
Last night we implamented the “cry it out” plan with my son. His sleep schedule was in serious conflict with ours and we decided that since he is six months old it’s time for him to learn how to go to sleep on his own.
It was a painful expierence, for a number of reasons: A#1 he was in a great mood just before we put him in his crib . . . at midnight . . . and I wanted to keep playing with him. A#2 Soothing him would have been so easy; he just wanted to be held.
Being nervous first-time parents, we were nervous so we used a mirror to watch him from around the corner. That might not have been a smart choice on our part because it made it harder to resist pickin him up. I felt sad for him as I watched him flail around, sit up and flop over, and scream while his giant baby eyes searched for us.
But we toughted it out with only a few tears of our own, and after about forty minutes his sobs became whimpers as he lay face down in his crib.
The good news is that he only woke up three times during the night, and he fell back asleep after only a couple of minutes of crying. When I left for work this morning he was still sound asleep. I think he slept better last night than he has in months, so that made us feel better.
It’s time to go home now to be with my wife and little baby.
Ah, another Blog begins . . .
The only reason I’m doing this . . . other than being totally full of myself and thinking that my words are somehow superior to the other gazillions of words out there . . . is that I have this little part of my life that I want everyone to know about. His name is Isaac. He’s 5 1/2 months old.
Between my wife and my new son, I have finally felt that overwhelming rush of love that lasts for days, I mean months, I mean years . . .
My son just started teething; he has one tiny tooth popping out of his lower gums. It doesn’t seem to be bothering him too much. That is to say, I haven’t noticed him crying anymore than usual.
He’s a pretty smiley baby, but he’s also very shy. Whenever someone at church talks to him he smiles this huge smile that seems to be as big as his whole face, then turns his head and buries his face in my shoulder. (You should take a moment to sigh.)
Here’s my question. If all parents experience this much love, and there are billions of parents in the world, how can there be any problems? This kind of love times 4 billion should equal an intense planet of love.
Speaking of love, I told my wife I’d be home by 8pm so I’ve got to go.
